Graveyards 53 thru 60.

This section is on Knotts Island Road, Highway 615 from the Knotts Island Grocery Store to the Knotts Island United Methodist Church, including cemeteries on the Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge.

Graveyard # 53. On Mackay Island NWR property just before you get to the old post office location on the right side of the road in grown up brush, Tract 17A.

Two footstones at the edge of woods L. W., S.L.F. and A. W. no dates.

Graveyard #54.Mackay Island NRW Near the former Joseph Knapp Mansion, Tract 12.

999. John Mackie
No tombstone found, near area where the windmill stood. He is said to be buried standing up so he could watch his slaves.

1000. Doxey Child
(Colin Doxey said his father had a brother buried near John Mackie).

Graveyard #55. Old Oak Grove on Mackay Island Road

Graveyard #56. Graveyard is fenced and near the maintenance shed on Mackay Island NWR. Tract 186.

Graveyard #57. Old Poyner Home Place now being used as a residence for Refuge employees. This is on a dirt road across from the Knotts Island United Methodist Church, and is usually gated. Tract 72.

Graveyard #58. Mackie Waterfield's old home place. This is near the Poyner Home on Mackay Island Road. It is in the woods on the curve in front of the house. Tract 70.

Graveyard #59. Across from Russell and Minnie Jones and the Methodist Church on Highway 615. Tract 70.
