In 1908 land was purchased from Mr. Jesse
Bowden near the
Methodist Church for the sum of $75.00. Local folks were hired
to work on the building with the forman of construction being
local resident Mr. W.E. Morris. It was completed for a total
cost of $1600.00.
Jesse Bowden married Sarah Ann Ansell and purchased the
property from Sarah's father. Jesse is my great-grandfather.
I remember playing in the building with
my childhood friends Carolyn Beasley, Al Bonney etc....
