Aunt Catherine "Kitty" (Caterine Williams Etheridge widow of Lionel Etheridge who was brother to Scott Etheridge) as told to Melinda Lukei: She said that when Bertha Ansell was killed, her father, my grandfather Floyd Linwood Williams was sheriff for Currituck Co., NC at the time. He stayed up all night with the body. She also said that the stores, churches and some residents were lighted with Delco batteries. She remembered that Harold Capps lighted his home with the batteries.
