KNOTTS ISLAND GAS BOAT COMPANY

October 24, 2010. INCORPORATION CERTIFICATE from Nancy Bonney Stamper.

Comment - Gary Montalbine: Did this Company mainly shuttle freight and passengers between the deep water pier and the shore?

October 25, 2010. Comment - Melinda Lukei: "Thank You" Nancy for sharing the gas boat and telephone documents. Your great grandfather Ferdinand Bonney is in both documents while my grandfather Paul Campbell Jones was in the one with the telephone. I am also the great-granddaughter to Ferdinand Bonney. I had no idea about either of these documents. Too bad we didn't inherit those shares from 1918.

October 28, 2010. Comment - Joe Lewark: I believe the Company was formed to give the passenger/cargo boats competition because they were expensive. A boat was built. The W. J. Covington. About 50' to 60' long with a 2 cylinder gas engine and a big cast iron flywheel. It got caught in ice when the Sound froze and it sank. It is located off the Williams Lodge and the motor can be seen at low water. It is marked during hunting season so boats don't run into it.
