Elma Elizabeth White Obituary
KNOTTS ISLAND, NC – Elma Elizabeth WHITE, 90, our family Matriarch
went to be with her Lord on February 6, 2011, after a long and very
full life. She will be missed by her family whom she led and loved very
much. She was born in Munden, Virginia (north end of Knotts Island) on
July 18, 1920, the daughter of the late Earlie and Pearl Midgette. She
was a “true Southern homemaker “. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist
Church since 1948 and more recently was attending Living Waters COGOP
in Bogue, NC. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Lloyd
Hope White and a son, Larry D. White. Survivors include; two daughters:
Brenda McLaughlin and husband Ray of Knotts Island, and Sharon Atherton
and husband Bob of Hubert, NC; a daughter-in-law Jackie White of Knotts
island; a sister: Shirley Weeks and husband
Wayne of Portsmouth, VA, a brother, Dalton Midgette and fiancee' Evelyn
of Shiloh, NC; 5 grandchildren: Walter Williams and wife Sherry, Lynne
Jennings and husband Frank, Natalie Dinsdale and husband Steve, Marcy
Arnold and husband Rick, and Chris Atherton; 8 great-grandchildren:
Christy, David, Sarah, Russell, Austin, Wesley, Ashlee and Justin.

KNOTTS ISLAND, NC. Lloyd Hope WHITE, 78, went to be with his Lord on Jan. 13, 1998, after a long and very full life. He will be missed by his family whom he led and loved very much. He was born on Knotts Island on August 30, 1919, the son of the late Sidney and Lelia WHITE. He was a retired machinist at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a charter member of Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Elma Midgett WHITE; two daughters: Brenda McLAUGHLIN and husband Ray of Knotts Island, and Sharon ATHERTON and husband Bob of Hubert, N.C.; a son, Larry WHITE of Knotts Island; 5 grandchildren: Walter WILLIAMS and wife Rita, Lynne JENNINGS and husband Frank, Natalie DINSDALE and husband Steve, Marcy ARNOLD and husband Rick, and Chris ATHERTON; 7 great-grandchildren: Christy, David, Michelle, Abbie, Ashlee, Russell and Justin; and one great-great-granddaughter, Vivian; three sisters: Virginia JONES, Jeanette CASON and Jean CASON, all of Knotts Island; and two brothers: Alfred WHITE of Knotts Island and Warren WHITE of Grand Prairie, Texas.

KNOTTS ISLAND - Larry Douglas WHITE, 62, died December 5, 2007. Mr. WHITE was born in Norfolk to Elma Midgett WHITE and the late Lloyd WHITE. Mr. WHITE was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, was an avid hunter and fisherman. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of six years, Jackie WHITE; daughters, Natalie DINSDALE and husband Steven of Virginia Beach and Marcy ARNOLD and husband Richard of Knotts Island; step-daughter, Tammy ANNERS and husband Chris of Virginia Beach; step-son Harold CHERRY of Kitty Hawk; sisters, Brenda McLAUGHLIN and husband Ray of Knotts Island and Sharon ATHERTON and husband Bob of Hubert, NC; and seven grandchildren.
