KNOTTS ISLAND CEMETERIES

Graveyards 41 thru 52.

Graveyard #41. Blackfoot Road turn right behind Knotts Island Inn.

Graveyard #42. 100 yards before you get to West Blackfoot Road on left.

Another stone with a lamb on it no name or dates.

Graveyard #43. Blackfoot Road to West Blackfoot turn right on Litchfield Lane, a dirt road, to end of road. Cemetery is behind house on left.

Graveyard #44. Cason Cemetery on West Blackfoot Road at the end of the road.

Graveyard #45 Graveyard on left at intersection of South End Road and Blackfoot Road to left of Knotts Island Inn.

There are probably other graves in this woods but I could not find them. I have been told that several existed.

Graveyard #46. Opposite Margie's Lane, on the right side of the Austin's residence.

Graveyard #47. South End Road on right side. Cemetery located in field 100 yards from road southwest of Bill Fentress house and north of old house of John Beasley. (I couldn't find it in 1987) Mr William Fentress said it was probably plowed up.

Graveyard #48. In a patch of trees after the sharp right turn at the end Doxey Lane. Ansell Cemetery

Graveyard #49 White Cemetery. White's Neck Lane at the end of the woods next to the road on right side.

Jane Brumley said undoubtedly there were many other headstones which have decomposed in this cemetery.

Graveyard #50. 116 South End Road - Cemetery in Harold Capps yard.

Graveyard #51. Ferry Dock Road before Fentress Drive. Same Jones family as on Mackay Island NWR. In 1987 all stones were laying down in the grass. 5 stones were missing. Cornelius b 1822 d 1891 seems to have two stones, one here and one in graveyard #56.

Graveyard #52. Whitehurst Cemetery on Fentress Drive located on Curtis L. Fentress property. Tombstones are no longer there.
