CAPPS FAMILY BIBLE from the John Barnes Collection.
The followlng list of births, marriages and deaths was copied from
the family Bible of Andew Capps. The earlier entries were undoubtedly
written by his hand, all up to 1835 being in the same script. Later
entries were apparently made by several different people, some of the
last being in the handwriting of Washington T. Capps. This Bible was
for many years in the possession of Charity Capps Whitehead and
descended to her son, John Early Whitehead. After her death Washington
T. Capps asked that he be allowed to keep the book during his lifetime,
with the premise that at his death it would, be returned to John Early
Whitehead. This was done and the Capps Bible is now (1933) owned by
Early W. Whitehead, eldest son of John Early Whitehead.

MARRIAGES
Andrew Capps and Phebee Dyer was married in March the 10th day 1810.
Moses Simmons and Chrisanne Capps was married on Saturday the 28th of December, 1833.
Gideon Bonney and Sinthy Capps was married August the 30th, 1835.
Arceney Capps and John Robertson was married.
John E.B. Capps and Ann H. Dawley was married December the 22nd day 18?
Johnson Whitehead and Charity R. Capps was married 17th day of April 1840. Johnson Whitehead died August 15th, 1881.
Edward Eaton Capps and Betsy Whitehurst was married 19th of July 1843.
Andrew H. Dudley and Melissa G. Capps was married Sept. 19th, 1843.
Noel B. Doudge and Susan Capps was married December the 23d 1841.
James Copman and Nancy A. Bonney was married Sept. the 7th, 1854.
Washington T. Capps and Frances Ann, eldest daughter of Rev. C. Bernard, were married in the city of Portsmouth at the house of John Talbot, by the Rev. Thos. C. Hays, pastor. Monday 4 o'c1ock PM. August 7th, 1853.

the son of Tully L.
Capps. Tully's father was Benjamin Capps who was the brother of Andrew
Capps (of this bible record) Benjamin and Andrew might have been twin
brothers as I have Benjamin and Andrew born 1789, however we don't have
a fixed date on Benjamin just census years of 1789. Both Andrew and
Benjamin were sons of Morris and Diana Eaton Capps. I couldn't tell who
Arceney Capps who married John Robertson was. She is not mentioned in
the children of Andrew and Phebee and no marriage bond in Princess Anne
County. I don't know who Nancy A. Bonney is, must be a sister to Gideon
Bonney as the marriage date to James Copman is 1854.
I also have a Tully Capps, Sr. born in 1797 who might be a brother to
Andrew and Benjamin Capps. This family has families on Knotts Island
that they married into but I haven't been able to prove that they were
brothers. The dates are too early for records and we don't have a will
where they are named.
